Delphx could really have used the more kitsune look. It looks a bit flat, but whenever I see fan--art it looks absolutely amazing. And yeah, it having a tail would've been cool, unless the trail is hiding underneath all that fur. Chesnaught is hands-down my favourite. I'm glad I had faith in Chespin from the get-go. I will remember the memory of evolving Quilladin late at night. Twas a remarkable night. I never saw it's evo beforehand so it was a total shocker, but once I saw Grass/Fighting, I was happy.
I didn't like Quilladin much, but there's always that one middle evolution for the starters I'm not too big a fan of. Ivysaur, Bayleef, Marshtomp, Prinplup, and Pignite were the ones I liked the least. A couple times I've been pleased with the final evolutions, and Chesnaught is one of those occasions.
I think we're all a little shell-shocked because of the in-game pics, which don't do the characters justice. I'm sure when Sugimori releases the official artwork they'll look just fine, as they do right here.
The second set of starters I really liked. It sucks that each starter is twice weak to the rival's type but oh well. They're all cool. I was expecting Greninja to be fighting, but who really cares? They're all cool and I can't choose which one to love the most.
Hey, look on the bright side. At least the water starter isn't weak against both the fire and grass starters like it was in Gen IV. That was just plain cruel.
And regardless of how we expected things to be, this is the first time we've received a fighting starter that wasn't Fire type, so let's be thankful for that miracle. I think Water/Fighting would've been too predictable, since we already have two evolutionary lines of fighting frogs (Poliwrath and Toxicroak).
